Hi, I'm Heather.
Heather Dycus injects life and color into a room, whether via her own presence or that of one of her paintings. Her artwork features bold, unapologetically bright colors and thick, defined textures, invoking movement and cheerfulness. She imagines a more beautiful world, magnifying the beauty that surrounds her. Her medium is acrylic and oil on canvas.
"Whenever I paint I lose myself in the process. Everything disappears almost as if my hands and mind are disconnected from each other until the piece is finished. I am a self-taught artist, and my style has developed from years of trial and error, honing my technique and allowing color, texture, and the interplay of the two with iconic subjects to arrive at a place where I am happy with the work I create. I turn to art to find peace and tranquility. In creating art from a place of joy, I found that others could feel that same joy in my pieces."
The passion and joy in Heather's art are visceral and palpable; it is difficult to be sad in the presence of her work.
"I love every color, and I want to make sure that every color is represented in every single painting I create. I have never withheld color from any painting."
